Solar Panels System Components

Solar Panels Mounting System

There is more to a solar power system than just the panels and it’s important to consider the quality of all components when choosing a system.

Working with Solar Power One, you’ll notice that we view installing solar as a financial investment so a long-term view is needed. The upfront price is always an important factor, but the overall return on investment for the life of the solar system is much more important. This is why we balance upfront purchase price with supplying top quality solar components that will last well past the payback period for the system (after all, if your system will take 5 years to pay itself off but then dies after 5 years, the whole investment was really a waste of time and effort)

Just as important as the system quality is the company that installs your system. This is important as the install company is responsible for installing the system professionally in order to maximize return on investment, ensuring warranty conditions are met as well as being there down the track if any problems arise.

We realize that once customers are fully informed about all of the important matters related to installing solar, Solar Power-One will be your best option. Once you’re ready, we offer all potential customers a free no-obligation, no pressure home assessment, and consultation. Please click here and one of our solar consultants will contact you ASAP.

A solar power system is made up of the following components:

Solar panels – the most important part of the system and make up the majority of the cost of the system.
Inverter – converts DC electricity generated at the panels into 110V AC power which can be used in your home or exported to the grid.
Mounting system – physically connects the solar panels to your roof.
Electrical components – include cables, isolators, breakers, and switches. (sometimes referred to as the “Balance of System”).

Solar Panels

While all of the components that make
up a solar power system are very important, the solar panels are particularly important as they make up the largest cost of the system and produce electricity, are the largest driver of system performance, and are the most difficult to fix if something were to go wrong.

Solar Power One offers our clients a choice of different solar panels and we can install any panel available on the market. We have however chosen a range of solar panels that we believe offer the best trade-off between performance, value, and quality.

DC-to-AC inverters: Inverters take the low-voltage, high-current signals from the
PV panels and convert them into 120VAC (or 240 VAC), which is directly compatible with grid power. Inverters cost around $0.70 per watt or around $2,600 for a typical application. From a reliability standpoint, they are generally the weak link in any PV system, so quality is a must.

Mounting System

A solar panel mount
(or solar racking system) is the foundation that holds your solar array in place. Mounts are used to attaching solar panels to the roof, ground, or another surface on your property. … Before choosing your mounting products, determine whether you’re doing ground mount or roof mount solar racking.

Wiring and fuse box connections: Wiring, conduit,
and connections to your household main fuse box are minor hardware expenses, but they comprise a big chunk of the labor when you’re installing a PV system. Disconnect switches are of critical importance, and they need to be mounted within easy reach. Every member of your family should know exactly how to turn the PV system off for safety reasons. If any abnormal behavior occurs in your home’s electrical system, shut off the solar system first.

EV Chargers

SolarEdge’s EV charging single phase inverter offers homeowners the ability to charge electric vehicles up to six times faster than a standard Level 1 charger through an innovative solar boost mode that utilizes grid and PV charging simultaneously. This product is the world’s first EV charger with an integrated PV inverter.
Reducing the hassle of installing separately a standalone EV charger and a PV inverter, the EV charging inverter eliminates the need for additional wiring, conduit, and a breaker installation. By installing an EV charger that is integrated with an inverter, no additional dedicated circuit breaker is needed, saving space and ruling out a potential upgrade to the main distribution panel.
